Volunteer Opportunity in our Community Garden – Now through August

What’s Growing in the Food for the Journey Community Garden!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

With the garden planted, it’s time to start thinking about volunteering again! For the time being, we need volunteers to weed and water the garden. As time goes on, we will need people to harvest, to drive food to distribution points and to help hand it out! You can click the link below to sign up, or talk to Lori Petersen!

NEW BRANCHES

Food for the Journey is branching out!!! We are excited to announce that there are 2 new gardens being planted this year. One is at the Dickson Hollow Presbyterian senior living home in Menomonee Falls. The residents there will tend this garden as their way of continuing to be active and reaching out to their community. The second is at North Shore Presbyterian Church of Shorewood. There will be a dedication service this Sunday, June 12 at noon. Come join Pastor Nikki (DPC), Pastor Matt Lee(Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church) and Pastor Nicole Melara (interim pastor, North Shore Presbyterian Church) in dedicating the garden! Pastor Nicole has has sent the following invitation:

Come join North Shore Presbyterian Church(4048 N Bartlett Ave, Shorewood, WI 53211) in celebration of 100 years of ministry! On Sunday, June 12th at 10AM, you’re invited to worship with us in a celebration of special music, presentations and prayers followed by a pot-luck luncheon where members will be sharing show & tell memories. After that, we’ll be enjoying a strawberry shortcake dessert (an homage to our old Strawberry Festival), and we’ll be dedicating our new Food for the Journey garden beds as we walk with the Spirit into our next 100 years of ministry! If you can’t make it on June 12th, please consider joining us on Thursday, June 16th at 7PM (our actual anniversary date), for a 100-minute long service of thanksgiving outside on our patio. What a blessing to serve in God’s kin(g)dom!
