Little Dresses Update – Next Meeting June 20th

We did it!  Little Dresses Sewing Group made over 50 pairs of pajamas for the children of Open Arms Home for Children in South Africa.  Our goal was to have the pjs finished by June 1st and ready for mailing soon after.  We are happy to be ahead of schedule and in plenty of time for South Africa’s winter season.  The orphanage is not heated and nights can get cold so we knew our work would be welcomed.

With the pajamas made we will return to sewing little dresses and lap quilts.  We’ll meet again on Wednesday, June 20 then take the summer off until September.

Mission & Outreach Seminar – May 19th

Calling all Mission and Outreach leaders and members! On Saturday, May 19, from 9 am to noon, the Presbytery will host an interactive workshop for congregants engaged in mission and outreach. You will have the opportunity to learn from people within the Presbytery and from PC(USA) mission co-worker to Russia, Ellen Smith, on topics including:

* avoiding mission mish-mash
* discerning God’s unique call for your congregation
* recognizing when our mission efforts might become toxic charity
* maximizing congregational participation in your mission activities

This workshop is free and open to all interested parties. If you’d like to attend, contact Pastor Nikki.

Undie Sunday – ends May 6th

Underwear is one of the least donated item for the homeless.  Many men, women and children seldom receive anything new to wear, and are frequently treated with little dignity.

The Deacons are sponsoring a drive to provide ALL SIZES OF UNDERWEAR for men, women, and children.  Donations will be distributed through the HOPE Center in Waukesha.

The drive began April 22 and will end on May 6!  If you haven’t done so, please bring unopened packages of underwear for men (boxers or briefs), women (regular panties), and children, ALL SIZES, and drop in the special bin in the Deacon’s area in the Fellowship Hall.
